Batlag Falls (Overnight)

February 25, 2016

When we went to the jeepney going to Tanay (from Crossing) the jeepney was almost full. My buddy had his seat on the detachable one.

The travel time took us more than an hour. Upon reaching the place, I’ve seen signages that they prohibit bringing plastics, styrofoams and liquors inside. We first paid a Php 50 to the main entrance. This amount was also the same for Daranak Falls. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to visit Daranak Falls as we were too tired that time. We ascended for Batlag and paid Php 200 for the overnight entrance. I asked the caretaker if there was an additional fee for tent-pitching. She said “none” politely. They also have a sari-sari store. We proceeded through stairs, and it was somewhat tiring to scale. We pitched our tent nearby the tall waterfall. As I looked around, I noticed that the place was abundant in plants and trees while the ladders of waterfalls were situated strategically as if one was having his stay in a resort. We went there seeing production crews for a certain advertisement. The caretakers said the place will be closed in one day (That’s Sunday) for public because there will be a shooting. Currently, the television commercial is being aired already (watch Nestea Kiwi). The place was vast enough that it can also accommodate campers on the upper area. I was so amazed as I approached the falls. The waters were turquoise blue-green. The caretaker said there was also a cliff-jumping area (left waterfall) but we were hesitant to jump. We’ll do it maybe on our next visit if we’re already in a bigger group. The catch basin water on the tallest was up to 4 ½ feet deep while on the left side, it was more than 5 feet (to my calculation), so swim at your own safety. Salbabidas were available for rent. Before the dusk came, the visitors already left the area and it was only our group that was present in the campsite. At nighttime, the caretakers also pitched their tent on the lower ground. I was really in love with the place that I made a simple poem for Batlag Falls. During our morning stay, we have experienced the glorious beauty of nature while the sun is shining. This was a real paradise and I told myself, I might return to this wonderful place. The caretakers were courteous and hospitable; in addition, the place was well-maintained. We went home straight from the waterfalls, having bathed in the waterfalls as our last shower and with the feeling of natural freshness.
